Who We Are and What We Do

Hello!  We are Amanda, Louise, and Sarah.  We met at Northwestern University as undergraduates.  Amanda and Sarah both studied English and Louise studied music at NU. Now, Amanda works at a museum, Sarah is an editor, and Louise is a music librarian. We also love LL Cool J.

This blog provides recaps of our book club meetings, reviews of books, and fun literary tidbits.  We love getting feedback from fellow book lovers and we will gladly take suggestions for our next book club books.

What does “Illiana” mean?

We share a love for reading novels and popular fiction and decided to start a cross-state book club in 2010.   Louise and Sarah both live in Illinois and Amanda lives in Indiana, so we meet as the Illiana Book Club.

What Are Book Club Meetings Like?

Our book club meetings take place once every six weeks or so, and we usually discuss two books at a time.  We also plan a menu based on the books we read, and spend time cooking and preparing book-themed food and drink to go with our discussions.  We love brainstorming about what food would be appropriate for what book, and we post the menus we come up with along with our book club recaps here on our blog.
